Labiaplasty
Conveniently located to serve the areas of Houston, TX

A labiaplasty is a vaginal rejuvenation procedure that can elevate the appearance and function of your labia minora, or inner vaginal lips. (1)
While it is completely normal to have asymmetrical or elongated labia, this feature can cause discomfort or irritation. Some women find that these concerns develop as a result of pregnancy, aging, or massive weight loss. It can be difficult to feel comfortable exercising, wearing tight-fitting pants, or wearing bathing suits due to uncomfortable twisting and pulling. With a labiaplasty, you can reduce each of these concerns and reclaim your self-confidence and intimate comfort.
Dr. Oren Paul Mushin brings his skills and expertise in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery to Memorial Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery. He understands the importance of feeling confident and comfortable, and aims to achieve stunning results for each of his patients.

About Vaginal Rejuvenation with Labiaplasty
A labiaplasty procedure is a surgical procedure that can improve the function, comfort, and appearance of the inner vaginal lips. This procedure involves excising excess tissue from the labia to refine its size, shape, and appearance. There are various excisional approaches that can be used, depending on the patients’ goals and anatomy. The procedure can also be combined with other intimate rejuvenation techniques to optimize the benefits of labiaplasty.
While it is completely natural to have elongated or asymmetrical labia, these features can cause discomfort, recurring infections, or chronic irritation. Labiaplasty offers an effective solution, removing and reshaping excess tissue for a more comfortable, aesthetically pleasing result.

Labiaplasty can address both aesthetic and functional concerns, making it a highly beneficial procedure. Under his expertise, Dr. Mushin’s patients experience benefits such as:

Preparation
When you decide to proceed, Dr. Mushin will give you a set of pre-operative instructions to help you prepare for your labiaplasty. He may instruct you to:
- Refrain from taking blood-thinning medications and supplements.
- Prepare to take time away from your career and social commitments to focus on resting.
- Arrange transportation to and from your procedure.
- Discontinue using nicotine several weeks before your procedure.
- Avoid alcohol consumption for a few days before and after your procedure.
By following these instructions, you can ensure a successful procedure, smooth recovery, and the best results.
Procedure
Dr. Mushin performs labiaplasty on an outpatient basis, with each procedure taking approximately one hour to complete. Your procedure will begin with skin cleansing and sanitization before the appropriate anesthesia is administered to ensure your comfort. Dr. Mushin will then begin performing your labiaplasty using one of two surgical techniques: the trim technique or the wedge technique. The selected strategy will vary depending on your natural anatomy and aesthetic goals. Dr. Mushin will discuss the most effective technique for your case with you during your consultation.
- Trim Technique: Dr. Mushin can perform the trim technique by excising excess tissue from the edge of your labia. (2) This technique is ideal for those interested in addressing discolored labial edges and may offer a shorter procedure time overall. (1)
- Wedge Technique: The wedge technique consists of Dr. Mushin excising a V-shaped wedge of tissue from the center of the labia. This approach maintains the natural edges of the labia and is well-suited for those with enlarged labia. (1)
Dr. Mushin may also perform additional rejuvenation procedures to complement the results of your labiaplasty, such as a clitoral hood reduction or labial fat grafting.
Recovery
After your labiaplasty, you can expect some swelling, bruising, and tenderness around the treated areas. These effects will gradually subside on their own, but you may also manage them with pain medications and plenty of rest.
You may return to most of your daily activities after resting for approximately two to three days, but continue refraining from any physically demanding or strenuous activities or tasks until you receive clearance. You should avoid tampon use and sexual activities until you achieve a full recovery.
Dr. Mushin will provide you with a full set of post-operative instructions during your consultation. If any questions or concerns arise as you recover, reach out to our team so we can provide you with the support or guidance you need.

FAQ
Will receiving a labiaplasty change my sexual sensation?
Labiaplasty may improve your comfort during sexual activity if elongated or enlarged labia previously caused discomfort.
What concerns can labiaplasty address?
Labiaplasty can be performed for both aesthetic and functional purposes. Many women choose to receive this procedure to address irritation or discomfort, to refine the aesthetic appearance of their labia, or a combination of both.
Is it okay to get pregnant and give birth after undergoing a labiaplasty?
We recommend waiting to undergo a labiaplasty until you have finished growing your family, as pregnancy can alter the results of your procedure. Many women notice changes in their intimate appearance after childbirth. However, the choice is ultimately up to you, and you can certainly have more children if you wish.
Will there be any scarring after my labiaplasty?
Dr. Mushin takes great care when placing each incision to ensure any scarring is minimal. The wedge technique even preserves the natural edge of the labia, so it is difficult to tell that you had anything done.
Can I combine my labiaplasty procedure with another aesthetic procedure?
Yes, many patients choose to combine their procedure with another. You may choose to combine your procedure with another for more comprehensive results, or to address several concerns in one appointment. For more information, we recommend scheduling a personal consultation with Dr. Mushin at his office.
