About Preservé Breast Augmentation

Preservé breast augmentation is a specialized procedure that can elevate the size, shape, symmetry, and fullness of your breasts without severing underlying breast structures and tissues. What Type of Implants are Used?

When performing Preservé breast augmentation, Dr. Mushin will place Motiva® SmoothSilk Ergonomix2® breast implants. These silicone gel-based implants have a unique ability to adapt their shape according to the movements and positions of your body. (2) They appear anatomical (or teardrop-shaped) when you are standing up and will appear rounder when lying down. This contributes to a natural look, movement, and feel.

Preparation

Once Dr. Mushin has finalized your procedure, he will give you detailed pre-operative instructions to help you prepare. These instructions may vary between patients, but they typically consist of:

  • Altering Your Medications: Under the proper medical guidance, discontinue the use of any blood-thinning or antiplatelet medications and supplements.
  • Preparing Time Away: Take time away from your career, responsibilities, and commitments to give yourself a chance to recover.
  • Coordinating Transportation: Have a trusted friend or relative drive you home after your procedure, as you will not be able to.
  • Maintaining Your Abstinence: Refrain from consuming nicotine or alcohol in the weeks leading up to your procedure, as well as the weeks afterwards, as these substances can increase the risk of complications.

Procedure

Dr. Mushin performs each Preservé breast augmentation on an outpatient basis at his surgical center. You will receive either local anesthesia, general anesthesia, or sedation, depending on the nature of your enhancements.

Once you feel comfortable, Dr. Mushin will place an incision across your inframammary fold. This is the crease that sits beneath the breast, and this placement can conceal post-operative scars beneath the natural contours of the breast. He will use the Motiva® Channel Separator to gently move your tissues aside and create a tunnel to the placement where your implants will lie. After this, Dr. Mushin will use the Motiva® Inflatable Balloon tool to create a pocket that matches the size of your implants. He will then place your implants before closing the incisions. (1)

Recovery

After your Preservé breast augmentation, you may develop some swelling, bruising, or tenderness in the area. These effects are temporary and will subside on their own with time, but you may also manage them using medications, a cold compress, and rest. Dr. Mushin may also have you wear a compression garment to prevent further swelling and maintain the new shape of your breasts as you heal.

You may return to most of your routine on the same day as your procedure, or the day after. This is a significantly shorter timeframe than traditional breast augmentation, but you will need to continue refraining from any strenuous tasks or activities until Dr. Mushin has cleared you to do so.
