Preparation

As a minimally invasive procedure, Avéli does not require extensive preparation. However, to optimize your safety, make for a smooth procedure, and enhance your outcomes, Dr. Mushin may have you:

  • Pause blood-thinning medications and supplements at least two weeks prior to treatment
  • Cease smoking and nicotine use
  • Avoid alcohol consumption
  • Wear comfortable clothing to your appointment
  • Maintain good hydration and consume a nutritious and well-balanced diet
  • Arrange transportation home after your procedure

Procedure

At the start of your procedure, you will receive local anesthesia to numb the treatment area and reduce discomfort. Dr. Mushin will begin by making a few tiny incisions where the dimples are most prominent. Through each incision, he will insert the handheld Avéli device beneath the skin and, using a guided light, hook the targeted septa bands. Once he hooks the tissue bands, he will utilize a retractable blade to sever the connective fibers, releasing them to smooth the cellulite. Dr. Mushin will repeat this process until the entire treatment area is addressed. After making the targeted corrections, he will close the incisions, clean and dress the area, and allow you to rest.

Recovery

Immediately after your procedure, you may notice some leakage from the incision sites and feel soreness, tenderness, or mild pain, which are completely normal reactions that will subside after a couple of days. You can slowly resume light activities during the first two weeks after treatment, but you should avoid strenuous exercises and heavy lifting.
