Our eyes are our window to the world. They are also one of the first features most people notice. The skin in our eyelids is among the thinnest in the body, and is often times the first area to succumb to signs of aging. Blepharoplasty in Houston is designed to improve the appearance of your eyelids, and as a result, your entire face.
There are several different types of eyelid surgeries, depending on whether you would like the top or bottom lids addressed, whether there is any excess fat that needs to be removed, or if there are any issues with your eyelid position. To learn more about this and the other facial surgeries we offer, call our office today.
Am I candidate for a Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery)?
Being told you look sleepy? Tired of those droopy eyelids? A Blepharoplasty in Houston might be right for you.
Depending on your needs, skin may need to be removed, your lids may need to be repositioned, and fat either added or removed. These modifications often vary from one patient to another. Dr. Mushin has experience with many types of blepharoplasty, which he utilizes with his patients in Houston.
What’s included in the procedure?
Blepharoplasties are generally performed under local anesthesia with or without IV sedation. This may be done in the office or in an ambulatory surgery center setting depending on the specific type of surgery, and if any procedures are being combined.
What is the recovery process like?
The length of recovery often varies with the type of blepharoplasty performed at our Houston surgery center. At the time of your consultation, Dr. Mushin will outline your recovery process. In general, the process will follow a similar course:
- Day of Procedure: You will likely have cold packs on your eyes after surgery. These will remain in place until you go home. You will be given antibiotic ointment to place in your eye and on your incision.
- First Week: You will be seen in the office 5-7 days after surgery, and sutures will be removed.
- Subsequent Weeks: Scars in the eyelid region are usually well-tolerated. Over subsequent weeks you should expect your scars to heal, and for your final, more youthful appearance to take hold.
