Patient Selfies

Aging, weight loss or gain, pregnancy, heredity, and other factors can contribute to extra fat or loose skin accumulating on the thighs. When you are unsatisfied with the appearance of your legs, and diet or exercise alone has not provided you with the improvements you would like, you may be an ideal candidate for an outer thigh lift. An outer thigh lift is a body sculpting plastic surgery procedure that helps to smooth and tighten your other thighs to provide a more youthful and toned contour to your legs.

Let Dr. Oren Mushin, our premiere plastic surgeon at the Memorial Center for Cosmetic Surgery, help you decide if an outer thigh lift in Houston is suitable for you. Reach out to our team today to learn more about your options for enhancing your outward appearance as well as your self-esteem.

What Is an Outer Thigh Lift?

Sometimes referred to as a lateral thigh lift, the outer thigh lift is a surgical solution for contouring the body and reducing the appearance of fatty tissue and loose skin on the upper outer thigh. These target areas are commonly termed “saddlebags.”

Lateral thigh lifts can be combined with other procedures, including inner thigh lifts, butt lifts, arm lifts, tummy tucks, liposuction, breast lifts, and more, for a fully comprehensive transformation.

Outer Thigh Lift Procedure and Recovery

Before your surgery, you will be placed under general anesthesia. Your surgeon will place an incision along the hipbone and remove excess skin and fat below the hip area. Typically, a thigh lift lasts from two to three hours, depending on whether it is combined with other treatments. You will receive a comprehensive list of pre-op and post-op instructions, and we will schedule you for follow-up visits in the office so Dr. Mushin can track your healing progress.

Recovery is different for everyone. Most patients return to work within one week of their procedure, as long as no strenuous physical activity or heavy lifting is involved. No exercise is permitted for six weeks after your Houston outer thigh lift, though you may return to normal daily activities typically within one week.

A special compression garment will be placed on your leg following the procedure, which should be worn for the first few weeks after surgery or as directed by your surgeon. Some bruising and swelling is normal for the first month or so. You may see some results immediately, with final results appearing after any swelling and minor bruising subsides.

Who Is a Candidate for an Outer Thigh Lift?

If you have excess sagging skin around the outer thighs that does not respond to diet and exercise, you may be a great thigh lift candidate. Ideal candidates are adults in overall good health with a stable body weight and realistic goals for surgery.

During your initial consultation, Dr. Mushin will thoroughly review your health history to further assess whether an outer thigh lift in Houston is an appropriate option for you. At this visit, he will also discuss your aesthetic goals and customize a treatment plan that will best meet your needs. In some instances, we may recommend additional or alternative treatments to achieve an optimal result.
